Procedure: Ginetta G40 Door Hinge Repair

Our method of fixing the weak door hinges on the G40 is to make and fit a metal plate around the lower hinge mount.

Cracked hinge mounting

A cracked lower hinge mount means the door drops and might even break free.

Remove the door

Unbolt the two pins / bolts that sit vertically through the hinges.

Make up a plate

Use a mild steel plate of dimensions 135 x 95 mm and form it around the corner of the door.

Fit to the door

Drill the bracket to accommodate the hinge bolt. Use adhesive to fix the plate to the door and then drill and fit peel-back rivets to lock the plate firmly in place.
